But, there is a serious lack of credible information available on women’s nutrition with a focus on women in sports. Well, to all the athletic women who are reading this, I am going to give you some advice with regards to your nutritional needs. I think there is an urgent requirement for women’s nutrition information with a focus on sportswomen.

In the world we live in today, women are no longer considered the weaker sex anymore. They are now equal to men in nearly all aspects of life including sports and athletics. It is not surprising then that we need women’s nutrition plans with a focus on sports. Women’s nutrition has traditionally been associated with working women and moms. It’s about time that we look at women’s nutrition with a whole new perspective.

Here are some tips for women’s nutrition specifically targeted for women in sports:

What do you think is the single most important mineral for a sportsmen – man or woman? The answer is Calcium. One of the most important nutrients in a women’s nutrition plan, calcium is important for good bone health. It is a mineral that plays an essential role in healthy bone growth.

Humans live on oxygen. Equally important is that the right level of oxygen is maintained in the blood, as it is transported to the different parts of the body. Women in sports are more prone to iron deficiencies than anyone else in the world.

Antioxidants are usually associated with benefits against the harmful effects of pollution and hectic work environments. But, vitamin C – one of the most powerful antioxidants cannot be ignored from a women’s nutrition plan. Not only does vitamin C improve energy and immunity levels, it also protects against the harmful effects of pollution.
